Kang GURU Travels to Jakarta

Kevin flew to Jakarta on August 12th to attend a reception for the visiting Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Stephen Smith. The dinner was held at the residence of the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Bill Farmer and his wife, Elaine. Mr Smith was a little late to the event as he and Ambassador Farmer had just arrived back from an official visit to Gowa in South Sulawesi. In Gowa, Mr. Smith opened the 1,000th school built through the Australia Indonesia Basic Education Program (AIBEP) in Indonesia.

Mr. Smith mingled with guests and spoke briefly to Kevin about Kang Guru and the role that Kang Guru plays in the Australia Indonesia Partnership especially re. public affairs and informing Indonesians about AIP activities in Indonesia. Mr. Smith was quite pleased to receive the VERY first of the new Kang Guru Indonesia 20th Anniversary t-shirts from Kang Guru Indonesia.
